IHC (Immunohistochemistry)

(AAA326488 at 1/100 staining Human Head and neck cancer tissue by IHC-P. The sample was formaldehyde fixed and a heat mediated antigen retrieval step in citrate buffer was performed. The sample was then blocked and incubated with the antibody for 1.5 hours at 22 degree C. An HRP conjugated goat anti-rabbit antibody was used as the secondary.)

Description: The mammalian tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) family consists of 10 cell-surface proteins that regulate development and homeostasis of the immune system. Member 14 of TNFR (TNFRSF14, also named as TR2, ATAR, HVEA, HVEM, LIGHTR) was also identified as a mediator of herpesvirus entry into mammalian cells. The cytoplasmic region of TNFRSF14 bound to several members of the TNFR-associated factor (TRAF) family, namely TRAF1, TRAF2, TRAF3, and TRAF5. Transient transfection into human 293 cells caused marked activation of nuclear factor-B (NF-B), a transcriptional regulator of multiple immunomodulatory and inflammatory genes.
Function: Receptor for BTLA. Receptor for TNFSF14/LIGHT and homotrimeric TNFSF1/lymphotoxin-alpha. Involved in lymphocyte activation. Plays an important role in HSV pathogenesis because it enhanced the entry of several wild-type HSV strains of both serotypes into CHO cells, and mediated HSV entry into activated human T-cells.
Subunit Structure: Interacts with TRAF2, TRAF3 and TRAF5.
Post-translational Modifications: N-glycosylated.
