Clone M253 was generated from a recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids in the C-terminal region of human PI3 Kinase alpha subunit. This region is homologous to similar regions in rat and mouse PI3 Kinase alpha subunit.

Phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) phosphorylates phosphatidylinositol (PI), PI-4-phosphate and PI-4, 5-bisphosphate to catalyze the production of PI-3, 4, 5-triphosphate.
